Senior IE students attend seminar

Fifth year industrial engineering students attended the seminar entitled "IEnable: Securing Excellence with Supply Chain Management" on September 30, 2016 at the Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) - Cavite. The seminar featured a lecture about securing excellence in the workplace through proper management of the supply chain. This was participated in by industrial engineering students from other schools such as University of Perpetual Help - GMA and LPU Cavite.

The main goal of the lecture was to provide a deeper understanding on how supply chain management can holistically improve the productivity, and in turn, the overall effectiveness and efficiency within the workplace. Engr. Kristine Jade J. Bolisig served as the guest speaker.

Prof. Escaño presents extension paper

Prof. Danielito R. Escaño, DIET faculty member and CEIT extension coordinator, presented his extension paper entitled "Ugnayan; Kaalaman, Kabuhayan at Kapaligiran Sa Barangay (Training for Out-of-School Youth)" to the 11th CvSU Extension In-house Review on September 27, 2016 at the Hostel Tropicana, Cavite State University.

Ms. Ma. Fatima B. Zuñiga, DIET faculty member attended the seminar entitled "Youth Congress for Information Technology (Y4IT)" on September 29, 2016 at the SMX Convention Center, Pasay City.

The Youth Congress on Information Technology (formerly known as the Philippine Youth Congress on Information Technology and commonly known as Y4iT) is an annual information technology event in the Philippines organized by the UP System Information Technology Foundation (UP SITF) and co-organized by the Youth Volunteer Corps.

DIET conducts extension program for OSYs

The Department of Industrial Engineering and Technology (DIET) successfully conducted its annual extension program (40-hours) for the out-of-school youth (OSYs) of Barangay Alulod on July 4-7, 2016 at the College of Engineering and Information Technology. This was participated in by more than 15 out-of-school youth from the adopted barangay. The extension program focused on the training for the following areas of specialization:
  • basic safety and health;
  • automotive servicing;
  • electronics servicing; and 
  • electrical installation and maintenance.

New TESDA assessor

Mr. Ronald E. Araño and Mr. Jayson F. Lilang, DIET faculty members passed the Trainers Methodology I (TM I) which was administered by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) in Paliparan II, Dasmariñas City, Cavite. The course on training methodologies and assessment was conducted from April to June 2016.

TM I is a qualification designed to enhance the knowledge, skills, positive attitude and work values of the learner in accordance with the prevailing standards in the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector. It encompasses competencies required of a Technical–Vocational Trainer to perform the tasks in the areas of instructional delivery/ facilitation, competency assessment, and maintenance of training resources / facilities.

Prof. Buclatin attends PH startup challenge

Prof. Willie C. Buclatin attended the seminar entitled "Lean 101 Startup Challenge and IoT" on June 10-11, 2016 at Bauio City. The two-day event covered the topics on developing startup ideas, creating viable business models, best practices in effectively operating a tech startup and basics on building IoT solutions.The event was sponsored by DOST Baguio City.
