Ms. Ma. Fatima B. Zuñiga, Electronics Technology instructor,  attended the DOST Metrology Awareness Seminar with the theme Metrology in the Academe and Research Development Agencies on October 24, 2017 at Acacia Hotel, Alabang, Muntinlupa City.

The seminar was organized by the Department of Science and Technology, in partnership with Laguna State Polytechnic University and Regional Development Center (RDC), which aimed to provide a background for research staff and professor of SUCs in CALABARZON in the field of metrology. This discussed the importance of good measurement practices among SUCs research laboratories, which could alter or affect the competitiveness of researches conducted. The seminar also aimed to assert efficient, valid and accurate results of researches which can only be attained through good metrology practices.

IE students attend leadership summit

BSIE graduating students attended the national leadership summit entitled “Convergence: Working Holistically on Leader Emergence” on October 14, 2017 at the University of Santo Tomas, Manila. The summit was a one-day assembly wherein members of the Operations Research Society of the Philippines (ORSP) student affiliates gathered to establish a stronger network of expanding student leaders from different universities. This focused on the total wellness (physical, intellectual and mental) of the individuals to develop their ability to lead better. ORSP-UST facilitated the event.

Prof. Willie C. Buclatin, DIET Chairperson, served as AACCUP Accreditor during the visit in Ramon Magsaysay Technological University in Iba, Zambales on October 17-19, 2017.

Profs. Danielito R. Escaño and Gerry M. Castillo, presented the papers entitled “Development of an Advanced Electronic Type Steering System Instructional Mock-Up” and “Assessment on the Conformance of Facilities Based on the Needs of Persons with Disabilities of Cavite State University System”, respectively during the Agency Research In-House Review on October 17, 2017 at the Hostel Tropicana, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. The two studies were funded by the Faculty and Student Research Capability Enhancement Program (FSRCEP) of the University.

The team of Philippine Institute of Industrial Engineers – CvSU Student Chapter (PIIE-CSC) ranked overall 1st Runner-Up during the PIIE CALABARZON SportsfIEsta at the Collegio San Juan de Letran, Calamba City, Laguna on October 14, 2017. Industrial Engineering students from Region IV-A competed on different sports such as basketball, volleyball, badminton, game of the generals, and scrabble.
