PIIE-CSC conducts outreach activity

The Philippine Institute of Industrial Engineers-Cavite State University Student Chapter (PIIE-CSC) conducted an outreach program on December 8, 2016 at San Jose Balay Alima Foundation Inc. in Carasuchi, Indang, Cavite. Industrial engineering students and instructors have provided simple gifts and other necessities to beneficiaries of the foundation. The program includes serenading and feeding the elders, games, and gift giving.

Nuestro at the 1st International Conference and Competition on Engineering, Education, Management,  Science and Technology held on December 3-5, 2016 at the Puerto Prinsesa City, Palawan. PIIE-CSC conducts tutorial classes


The Philippine Institute of Industrial Engineers - Cavite State University Student Chapter (PIIE-CSC), one of the recognized organizations under the Department of Industrial Engineering and Technology (DIET) conducted tutorial classes in mathematics and physical sciences on November 7, 9 and 10, 2016 at the DIET building.

Select senior industrial engineering students who are more knowledgeable on mathematics and physical science subjects led the tutorial classes and served as lecturers. The tutorial classes were participated in by second year and third year industrial engineering students currently taking differential calculus, differential equations, and physics.

Moreover, Mr. Junelle Christian M. Obice, former CEIT faculty member, also served as guest lecturer in one of the tutorial classes.

DIET starts extension program


The Department of Industrial Engineering and Technology (DIET) initiated its extension program through coordination to the firm owners situated in Alulod, Indang, Cavite on October 19, 2016. The extension program of the department aims to promote productivity increases in manufacturing firms (small and medium enterprises) to make their products more competitive both in price and quality in both export and local markets.

The team was headed by Mr. Danielito R. Escaño (CEIT Extension Coordinator) together with Mr. Willie C. Buclatin (DIET Chair), Mr. Gerry M. Castillo (IE Instructor) and industrial engineering students/PIIE officers namely: Michael Angelo Maglunob, Gazel Grace Mojica and Sophia Grace Taruc.

Mr. Federico Morales (Brgy. Kagawad and Committee on Education Chairman) also assisted the team in meeting the owner/manager of balutan/tahuan and Brasbag Poultry Farm.

PIIE-CSC champs regional sportsfiesta


The Philippine Institute of Industrial Engineers - Cavite State University Student Chapter (PIIE-CSC) participated in the CALABARZON SportsfIEsta on October 28, 2016 at San Juan de Letran-Calamba. PIIE-CSC emerged as the overall champion of the event which bested 10 other colleges and universities offering industrial engineering course in the region.

The following are the awards obtained by PIIE-CSC:

Senior IE students attend seminar

Fifth year industrial engineering students attended the seminar entitled "IEnable: Securing Excellence with Supply Chain Management" on September 30, 2016 at the Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) - Cavite. The seminar featured a lecture about securing excellence in the workplace through proper management of the supply chain. This was participated in by industrial engineering students from other schools such as University of Perpetual Help - GMA and LPU Cavite.

The main goal of the lecture was to provide a deeper understanding on how supply chain management can holistically improve the productivity, and in turn, the overall effectiveness and efficiency within the workplace. Engr. Kristine Jade J. Bolisig served as the guest speaker.

Ms. Ma. Fatima B. Zuñiga, DIET faculty member attended the seminar entitled "Youth Congress for Information Technology (Y4IT)" on September 29, 2016 at the SMX Convention Center, Pasay City.

The Youth Congress on Information Technology (formerly known as the Philippine Youth Congress on Information Technology and commonly known as Y4iT) is an annual information technology event in the Philippines organized by the UP System Information Technology Foundation (UP SITF) and co-organized by the Youth Volunteer Corps.

DIET conducts extension program for OSYs

The Department of Industrial Engineering and Technology (DIET) successfully conducted its annual extension program (40-hours) for the out-of-school youth (OSYs) of Barangay Alulod on July 4-7, 2016 at the College of Engineering and Information Technology. This was participated in by more than 15 out-of-school youth from the adopted barangay. The extension program focused on the training for the following areas of specialization:
  • basic safety and health;
  • automotive servicing;
  • electronics servicing; and 
  • electrical installation and maintenance.

New TESDA assessor

Mr. Ronald E. Araño and Mr. Jayson F. Lilang, DIET faculty members passed the Trainers Methodology I (TM I) which was administered by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) in Paliparan II, Dasmariñas City, Cavite. The course on training methodologies and assessment was conducted from April to June 2016.

TM I is a qualification designed to enhance the knowledge, skills, positive attitude and work values of the learner in accordance with the prevailing standards in the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector. It encompasses competencies required of a Technical–Vocational Trainer to perform the tasks in the areas of instructional delivery/ facilitation, competency assessment, and maintenance of training resources / facilities.

The two-day event covered the topics on developing startup ideas, creating viable business models, best practices in effectively operating a tech startup and basics on building IoT solutions.The event was sponsored by DOST Baguio City.

Prof. Buclatin attends international and national research congresses

Prof. Willie C. Buclatin, chair of the Department of Industrial Engineering and Technology attended the Second International Interdisciplinary Research Congress on February 22, 2016 at the University of Perpetual Help System, Las Piñas City. He presented his paper entitled "Evaluation of Industrial Engineering Program Based on the Needs and Demands of the Industries through QFD and SPC."

Moreover, Prof. Bulcatin also attended the 13th Philippine Institute of Industrial Engineers National Congress on February 26-27, 2016 at Mandaue, Cebu City. He also served as one of the judges during the research competition activity of the congress.
